Overview

  • Research interests focus on physical-chemical and biological treatment processes for water, hazardous wastes, biohazards, and industrial and municipal wastewaters. Extensive research in response to the Covid-19 pandemic on the inactivation of virus by photo-processes including ultraviolet (UV) for air, solids and objects of interest including PPE. Other ongoing research includes innovative physical and chemical treatment processes to address contaminants of emerging concern (e.g., PFAS) in drinking waters, soils, sediments and solid residuals. Research strives to integrate fundamental physical chemical and biological principles into practical equations/models for the selection, design and operation of engineered treatment systems.
