My research is concentrated in two marine fisheries science fields, which often overlap: 1) ecology and management, and 2) aquaculture and stock enhancement. My fisheries ecology and management research focus on cooperative research with the recreational and commercial fishing industries to study movements, distribution, and essential fish habitat of economically important species in the Gulf of Maine and southern New England waters. My aquaculture research strives to assist the aquaculture industry, either through experimentation designed to improve hatchery protocols or via analyses to identify industry needs. Other projects I have worked on involve the development of marine finfish stock enhancement programs, specifically winter flounder in the Northeast, the cultivation of other potential aquaculture species, and the development of alternative ingredients in fish feeds.
