Overview

  • Donald Plante joined the UNH faculty in the spring of 2012 as lecturer of mathematics. He is currently the coordinator of the mathematics curriculum at UNH Manchester.

    Plante brings experience and enthusiasm to the classroom, igniting interest in a subject that many struggle with. Many students echo that it's Professor Plante's passion for math that inspires them to succeed. In 2016 Plante was awarded the College's Teaching Excellence Award. To help students reduce the cost of receiving a quality education he uses free open educational textbooks and resources in all of his courses.

    In addition to teaching, Plante enjoys conducting research that lies at the intersection of mathematics and the arts. He is also an active researcher in the area of fractal geometry. Plante is currently exploring the use of 3D printers to create new mathematical models and pieces of artwork. He enjoys sharing his passion for creativity with his students in a popular “Introduction to 3D Printing” course that he recently created.

    Dr. Plante holds a B.S. and M.S. in Mathematics from the University of Rhode Island and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Tufts University.
