Abstract

  • Siblings are ubiquitous relational partners across the lifespan and their relationships are unlike any other. The present entry examines the unique and key dimensions of the sibling relationship and then identifies the many ways in which brothers and sisters promote and hinder each other's mental health and adjustment. Throughout, attention is given to the multiple factors that help shape this relationship across the lifespan.
