Introduction: The Recent Work of Luce Irigaray

Academic Article

Abstract

  • A religious spirit animates much of Luce Irigaray’s recent work, which aligns with a post-secular turn. Equally important is the closely linked political dimension of Irigaray’s thought, which emphasizes community and opens out onto questions of politics and an ethical relation to the other. The contributions to this special issue focus on a few key themes: Irigaray as a philosopher in dialogue with other thinkers and with the Western philosophical tradition; spirituality and Irigaray as an interlocutor with the Christian tradition; and Irigaray as a theorist of society and democratic practice.
