Overview

  • Mary is the 2017-2018 Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. Disability Policy Fellow working with Senator Patty Murray, Ranking Member of the U.S. Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions.  She has been with the UNH Institute on Disability/UCED since its inception in 1987, working to coordinate family and consumer leadership development and inclusive educational systems change through the Center on Inclusive Education. As a Research Associate Professor in the UNH Education Department, she teaches courses preparing future leaders to educate all students in their neighborhood schools and general education classrooms. Dr. Schuh has consulted extensively in the United States, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom on issues related to supporting students with disabilities and their families in typical school and community environments and family and consumer leadership. She serves in the role of adviser on the award-winning documentaries, Including Samuel, Who Cares About Kelsey?, Mr. Connolly has ALS, and Dan Habib’s upcoming film, Intelligent Lives. She is the author and co-author of a variety of books and other publications related to inclusive schooling and consumer and family leadership.  When she is not living and working on Capitol Hill, her home is in Concord, New Hampshire with her 10,000 honeybees.
