Overview

  • Kate Guerdat has worked in the field of Youth Development for over 15 years. With areas of experience spanning topics such as youth organizational systems, workforce development, and program design, Kate enjoys opportunities in which promote access for diverse audiences. Upon completing her Bachelor’s degree at Fordham University in Community Psychology, Kate’s early career included teaching Kindergarten to youth with behavioral and emotional challenges and working with inner city vulnerable populations in afterschool programs. With a move south for a pursuit of a Master of Science in Recreation Management; Therapeutic Recreation at UNC Chapel Hill, Kate worked as a Counselor and Case Manager for Therapeutic Foster Care children and families. Upon completion of her Master’s degree, Kate began her career with North Carolina State University, NC 4-H as the Extension Associate for Program Delivery.
    During her time with NCSU, Kate completed her Doctorate in Human Resource Development and Workforce Education. Upon completion of her doctorate in 2010, Kate maintained her Extension appointment with 4-H while joining the faculty of the Youth and Family Studies Graduate program, teaching as well as overseeing the Online Graduate Certificate program. In an effort to get closer to her New England roots, Kate and her family relocated to New Hampshire in late 2012 as she accepted the role of Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs at Manchester Community College of New Hampshire. Following her passion for youth and family development, Kate transitioned into her role with UNH Cooperative Extension in February of 2016 as the State 4-H Specialist/Extension Associate Professor in Recreation Management and Policy. In 2019, Kate became the State 4-H Program Leader, providing leadership and support to the NH 4-H program. Kate has maintained her faculty role within the Recreation Management degree program and hopes to support their efforts in the development of a Non-Profit Management Graduate Certificate.
    When not engaging in youth and family development work, Kate enjoys time with her family in the great outdoors as well
    exploring the country seeking out adventures.
