Overview

  • I am the Assistant Director and Lecturer for the Sustainability Dual Major (SDM) at the University of New Hampshire. In this role, I develop the curriculum and design the core courses for the sustainability dual major, help administer and promote the program, advise SDM students, and conduct sustainability related research.

My teaching and research integrate knowledge and methods from multiple disciplines, with a particular interest in sustainability science, sustainability education, collaborative governance, and institutional analysis. My current research focuses on transforming knowledge to action in transdisciplinary coastal adaptation projects, and on creating sustainability education goals for the University of New Hampshire.

I received my Ph.D. in Ecology and Environmental Studies from the University of Maine as a research fellow with the Sustainability Solutions Initiative. I hold an MS in Natural Resources Planning from the University of Vermont and a BA in Ecology and Evolution from Dartmouth College.

In addition to my academic background, I worked in the field of environmental planning and policy at local, state and federal levels for over 10 years. I was the Natural Resources Planner for the Town of Brunswick in Maine, a planner for Maine’s Coastal Program, and an NOAA Coastal Management Fellow. I am a trained facilitator, have taught environmental education, and spent three years in Uganda as a Peace Corps volunteer.
