Tom comes to UNH as an established director, actor and educator. An Alabama native, Tom earned his BFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where he studied musical theatre, film and voiceover performance. He lived in New York City for 10 years working as an actor, director, voiceover artist and educator.
Featured credits include the National Tours of Jesus Christ Superstar and The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. Additionally, Tom has been featured in numerous productions, readings and showcases both in NYC and around the country.
He has also worked as a director in New York, Alabama, Oklahoma and Texas, including multiple university and professional theatrical productions as well as serving as the co-director of an original off-Broadway musical entitled Here I Sit Brokenhearted, which premiered at the Beckett Theatre on Theatre Row in New York City in 2016.
He is a member of the Actor’s Equity Association, Stage Director and Choreographer’s Society, Musical Theatre Educator’s Alliance, Southeastern Theatre Conference and serves on the Editorial Board of the Southern Theatre Magazine.
As an educator, Tom taught as an adjunct faculty member at New York University and LeMoyne College, before deciding to pursue his graduate degree.
He earned his MFA in Directing from the University of Alabama before spending two years at Oklahoma State University where he taught acting, directing and musical theatre courses, while overseeing the creation and implementation of the university’s new musical theatre program.
He has published multiple articles for the Southern Theatre Magazine, was awarded an undergraduate performance scholarship from New York University and a full assistantship from the University of Alabama. Other awards and commendations include the University of Alabama’s Allen Bales Service Award, the Leighton M. Ballew Graduate Directing Scholarship from the Southeastern Theatre Conference and the honor of being named a finalist for Oklahoma State University’s 2019-2020 Outstanding CAS Faculty Member.
He is thrilled to join the Department of Theatre and Dance at UNH and looks forward to being a part of such a highly regarded University.
