This chapter reviews the role of information technology (IT) in modern working capital management (WCM). It describes IT’s unique status in WCM and analyzes the list of tools, methods, and components used in efficient decision-making. The chapter provides a brief history of IT in enterprise management followed byand a review of banking technologies, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, big data, and FinTech solutions. Next, it examines the new advances and trends in WCM technologies, including FinTech tools, automation solutions, decentralization, and artificial intelligence (AI). Finally, the chapter addresses information security risks and introduces the common approaches to cybersecurity in WCM.
