Dave Chappelle feared that his racial humor was reinforcing harmful racial stereotypes rather than critiquing them and so he left comedy for ten years. After reconstructing his argument for leaving, I argue that he was not morally required to leave because he did not cause the harms, he was not being negligent, the benefits of his humor outweigh any harms, and the intervening vices of ignorant or racist people should not convert a morally good action into an immoral one.
