Before landing at UNH in 2005, Nancy Sell taught English as a Second (or Foreign) Language in many different places and situations. Her first teaching job was as an inexperienced former Peace Corps volunteer in Niger, West Africa. After a year in China, followed by an M.A. in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), and five years in Saudi Arabia, Sell found herself in another foreign land—New Hampshire! Even in this area, Sell has taught at a variety of institutions, ranging from the New Hampshire State Prison to Harvard University. Having settled here at UNH, Sell still feels that by teaching ESL, she can travel without ever leaving the classroom, and that her students often teach her more than she teaches them.
