Overview

  • Dr. Joanne Burke is a Clinical Professor and a Registered Dietitian (RD) in the Department of Agriculture, Nutrition and Food Systems. Her work reflects her passion and commitment to applying nutrition principles and practices in community and food systems sectors. She serves as Director of the University of New Hampshire’s Master of Science in Nutritional Sciences with Dietetic Internship (MSDI) program. Courses taught reflect Dr. Burke’s expertise in community & public health nutrition, dietetics and food systems sustainability. She serves as a Senior Faculty Fellow of the UNH Sustainability Institute. She is actively engaged in promoting racial equity, food justice and sustainable food systems initiatives at the state, regional, and national level. She is on the faculty advisory committees for ANFS, and the Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems major. She is on the guidance committee for the Dual Major in Sustainability (DMS) and a faculty member of the Dual Major in Eco Gastronomy. She is an elected member of the UNH Clinical Faculty Council, and a member of the UNH Food Security Task Force. She volunteers in the community, as a board member for Gather, a food pantry serving the Seacoast region of NH and Kittery, Maine.
