Dr. Sidor received her veterinary degree from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine followed by an internship and research fellowship in wildlife medicine at the Tufts Wildlife Clinic, studying mortality and environmental contaminant effects in the common loon (Gavia immer). After a residency and Master’s degree program in anatomic pathology at the University of Connecticut, Department of Pathobiology and Veterinary Science, she was board-certified as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. Post-doctoral work as a pathologist at the Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration investigated brucellosis as an emerging pathogen in marine mammals, including development of a sensitive real-time molecular diagnostic assay. Diagnostic cases at the NHVDL involve necropsy and surgical pathology across a broad range of domestic and wildlife species. Current interests include investigation of wildlife zoonoses, development of molecular diagnostics for infectious diseases in domestic and wildlife species, environmental toxicology and immunology, and pathology of regional New England terrestrial, freshwater and marine wildlife species.
