Overview

  • Professor Chapman is a theoretical and computational chemist. His research lies at the intersection of chemistry, physics, mathematics, and computer science. He uses quantum mechanics, high-power computing, and machine learning to solve problems related to the chemistry of materials, energy, and technology.

    Professor Chapman is a native of southern New Jersey and received a B.S. in Chemistry from Stockton University. He earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Oregon, and had postdoctoral appointments at the University of Washington and Northwestern University.

    When not in the lab, he's an avid backpacker and swimmer, and enjoys cooking, canoeing, and homebrewing. Communicating science to the general public is also an interest of his.
