Overview

  • I am a first-generation Chicana feminist geographer. My areas of expertise include critical human geography, Chicanx and Latinx studies, women of color feminisms, environmental justice, and public health. My current research and writing projects examine the environmental racism experienced by Latinx communities in the Los Angeles Harbor region of Southern California. I am particularly interested in the community and public health response to air pollution and environmental degradation. Both in research and pedagogy I am invested in collaborative intellectual projects that disrupt hegemonic knowledge formations in the academy and beyond it.
